New Marquette Virtual Private Network (VPN) to launch Aug. 2
On Wednesday, Aug. 2, IT Services will replace Marquette’s VPN, the Virtual Private Network that connects you to campus-restricted, online resources while you are away from Marquette. The new VPN will require installing a new application, available for Windows and Mac computers and iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets.
Also, a second layer of security, Multi-Factor Authentication, will validate your access to VPN. Multi-Factor Authentication requires an additional mobile application, available for iPhone, Android, and Windows smartphones. If you don’t have a smartphone, an alternative option is available.
Why the change? Phishing and other scams, attempt to get your credentials and use them to access university systems and put information at risk. Multi-Factor Authentication provides an extra layer of security to make it more difficult for someone to misuse your Marquette credentials.
