Faculty interested in low-cost lecture capture or flipping the classroom may check out a new product called Swivl. Swivl is a robotic device that turns a smartphone or tablet into a complete video solution for lecture capture. The purpose of Swivl is to follow an instructor as he or she gives a lecture–it scans a room at command and stops to focus where it is needed. It will automatically track you as you deliver a presentation and then upload the video to their cloud. You may also export the content to D2L, YouTube and/or other video sources. The software allows video within PowerPoint so your lecture will be synchronized with the slides. Contact the COE Tech office for more information or to reserve use in your classroom.
